BHRUT - Children’s blood testing services – latest update
Following work with BHRUT, we are able to confirm that blood tests for children under 12 can now be booked with the Childrens’ Outpatients service at BHRUT. You do not need to contact a consultant paediatrician before making such a referral.
BHRUT – update on biochemistry urine testing (urine monovette containers)
The Trust had reported that the spoil rate of kits was quite high, with a number of bottles over filled, under filled or the labelling not correctly filled out. GPs were equally concerned by the numbers of rejected tests, and there has been a discussion about actions to ensure patient testing is improved.
BHR - GPSIs (GPs with Special Interest) in Rheumatology
As the focus shifts to re-establishing of services following response to the Covid-19 pandemic, we need to manage the backlog of patients as well managing incoming demand. Following discussion with the Trust clinicians, we would like to adopt a model of care where GPSIs can work in the community in collaboration with consultants from secondary care.

Oncology contacts
The CCGs have been requested to provide the contact information for the Acute Oncology service. The service can be contacted on 01708 435000 x6485 regarding patients currently having chemotherapy or radiotherapy treatment at Queen’s Hospital.
BHR - 2WW Breast Cancer referrals – update from BHRUT
BHRUT has confirmed that all patients referred from 12 June onwards will automatically receive a letter until the current backlog is cleared. We will continue to monitor this issue closely.
