SHIELDING SUPPORT SEARCHES
The central exercise to identify patients who need to shield has missed a small, but important, number of patients. To help you identify them, we have published these support searches in your Practice Support folder:
- All solid organ transplant patients should be on the shielding list.
- MND is not currently in the government’s list of extremely vulnerable, but the case is being argued because of the possibility that any condition that has affected swallowing or breathing might increase the severity of COVID-19 infection. It is up to your clinical judgement.
- Equally, you might want to review our search on serious lung disease and apply your clinical judgement.
Please note that searches 2 and 3 might capture some patients whose severity does not warrant shielding.
The CEG have lots of useful resources to support you during this time, and review them daily. Visit: www.qmul.ac.uk/blizard/ceg/covid/
