Upcoming changes to GP practices across north east London

City Square Medical Group

We are delighted to announce that patients registered to the City Square Medical Group based in Whitechapel are set to benefit from additional space and a wider range of services following the opening of the new branch practice at 445 Cable Street, London E1W 3DE on 27 June 2022. The opening of a new branch at Cable Street marks the completion of phase two of the redevelopment project, allowing its circa 12,000 patients already registered at the practice (and new patients) to have:

  • convenient access to a wider range of services from either site
  • a choice of clinicians, practice nurses and health care assistants, as well as access to a pharmacist.

The Practice will run a single telephone line across both sites to ensure efficiency of the running and management of the practice.

Wellington Way Health Centre

Stroudley Walk Health Centre and Merchant Street Practice which are both located at 1A Wellington Way, E3 4NE will be undergoing a merger on 1 July to operate as a single GP practice under the name of Wellington Way Health Centre. The merger will enable the team to share resources and expertise better to provide seamless care to patients. The same doctors, healthcare professionals and staff will still be part of the new merged team.

Summit Practice

The Summit Practice, East Ham Memorial Building, E7 8QR will close on 30 June 2022. This is following the decision of the contract holders - Dr Aminu Yesufu and Dr Chukwuma Amayo, handing back their contract to us and therefore terminating their contract. Due to the practice list size being very small it is not viable to procure a new provider and therefore the practice list is being dispersed. We are supporting patients to register with local practices in advance of the closure to maintain continuity of care. We have spoken to other practices in the area and are pleased to confirm that there are 20 practices within one miles of The Summit Practice who have capacity to register new patients they all have ‘open lists’ for new registrations.
