Support for people with drug and alcohol use during coronavirus lockdown
- CGL are an essential service and are continuing to support existing clients and taking new referrals for drug and alcohol users.
- Referrals can be done in the usual ways - call 0203 826 9600 or email cgl.walthamforest@cgl.org.uk or use the referral form online.
- For young people, contact CGL’s YP service on 0203 404 1098 or email walthamforestyp@cgl.org.uk.
- The service has shifted to telephone-based support and appointments. There are also changes to prescribed medication during this time to help people and families stay safe – please check their prescriptions info page for more info.
- Support groups have ceased at this time but CGL encourage people to access Breaking Free Online for digital recovery support. People can also find online groups and support options on CGL’s coronavirus info page.
- Needle Exchange and Naloxone is available from CGL Waltham Forest, 1 Beulah Rd, Walthamstow, London E17 9LG. Please call ahead to arrange pickup.
- Staff and organisations can access advice on CGL’s website about having effective conversations with patients or clients about their drug use and/or their alcohol use. Further prompts for asking questions and signposting are available at MECC Link
- You can also contact CGL directly for more support (for example to give a brief overview at your team meeting).
- Please share with all relevant staff and ensure staff are aware they can still contact CGL for drug and alcohol referrals, advice and support at this time.
