The Parkinson’s Disease Specialist Nursing Service is now operational again in Redbridge following a pause in service from June 20 due to staff recruitment.
The service supports people over the age of 18 living with a confirmed diagnosis of Parkinson’s Disease. It aims to help patients avoid unnecessary hospital admissions and outpatient appointments. Care is offered closer to home either at nurse-led community clinics or in their home environment if required.
The specialist service provides:
- specialist education, advice, information and support at any stage of disease pathway from diagnosis through to palliative care stages
- Optimisation of treatments including medication review, advice and information.
- A liaison between neurologist, GP and other health care clinicians regarding all aspects of care.
