Be part of improving health and care in Tower Hamlets, Newham, and Waltham Forest.

The NHS commissioners in Tower Hamlets, Newham, and Waltham Forest, known as TNW, are part of the new North East London CCG. We have ambitious plans for improving the care provided across our boroughs. Alongside local residents, care practitioners, and our partner organisations, we have identified our health and care improvement priorities. These are based on the long-standing needs of the boroughs’ residents, as well as learning from the coronavirus pandemic. To be able to deliver these transformation priorities, each borough needs strong primary care leadership and expertise.

TNW, as part of the new single CCG covering all of north east London, is an exciting new organisation putting the needs of communities at the heart of all our work. We are working with local people and partners across health, social care and the voluntary sector in innovative ways to improve health and wellbeing for all our communities. This is a great opportunity for care practitioners across primary care to get involved in leading and implementing heath and care improvements for our residents.

Shortlisting and interview panels are already underway for the majority of the clinical lead roles. However, we are still recruiting to a handful of the roles, please see the attached TNW Clinical Leads Role Descriptions for a full list.

TNW is looking to recruit office holders that are skilled, motivated and enthusiastic primary care health care professionals, with proven leadership skills to work as clinical leads within and across our boroughs in a multitude of areas commencing 1 July 2021.

As clinical lead you will play a leading role in identifying and championing service improvement, providing clinical input and advice as well as review and re-design services across local commissioned care pathways. You will work closely with the borough health and care partnerships and CCG’s local commissioning teams, as well as with other practitioners from across secondary care, community care, primary care, and social care. You will be the primary care public face of service transformation and improvement.

You will work principally on borough priorities, though where improvement programmes are being delivered at a larger scale you will work across borough boundaries.

Applicants to the office should:

  • be undertaking at least 1 clinical session per week within Tower Hamlets, Newham or Waltham Forest;
  • have specialist knowledge to the relevant service area and the outlined service development objectives;
  • have or be able quickly to build effective working relationships across the local health and care system.

The roles based in TNW and Tower Hamlets will be jointly appointed by the NEL CCG and the GP Care Group, Tower Hamlets’ GP Federation.

Additional detail is contained in the Role Description and the role specific descriptions within the TNW Clinical Leads Role Descriptions document.

Applications should be made by completing the application form, setting out why you are interested in the role and what skills and experiences you bring, and submitted along with a current CV to

Closing date for applications is Sunday 23 May 2021.
