New: Updated Covid-19 GP practice website, email and receptionist text

The following has been approved by NEL CCG. 

Please find below updated text for practice websites, text for automatic email responses, a script for practice managers/receptionists/care navigators on the Covid-19 vaccine and vaccination programme and on how to best access care. 

These are really important to help manage demand for the vaccine.

Covid-19 vaccines 

We urge everyone eligible who has not yet had their first vaccine to book on the national booking system or call 119. 

If you have had your first vaccine, please make sure you have your second vaccine to ensure maximum protection. 

If you have specific concerns about taking the vaccine and would like to talk to a health professional please contact your GP.

Getting the help you need 

Some consultations are over the phone and via video but we will assess your situation and invite you into the practice if needed. 

We can arrange same-day appointments if you need urgent care but please don't visit without an appointment. Appointments will be held in the best way to keep you safe from Covid.   

You can also contact 111, day or night, for other urgent health advice - including if you have concerns about your Covid-19 symptoms. 

Please remember that 999 and A&E are for emergencies.  

Please help reduce infections, protect the NHS and keep each other safe by following the latest rules

Covid-19 vaccines

You can also book an appointment at Walthamstow Central Library directly by calling 0203 196 3239. 

You can book an appointment at a community pop up clinic or at Leytonstone Library, or make general vaccine enquiries by calling 0208 496 3000. 

You can book an appointment at Chingford Leisure Centre, Westfield or at a pharmacy site on the national booking system or by calling 119.

Practice manager/receptionist/care navigator key lines for telephone vaccine enquiries. 

These depend on the circumstances of the GP surgery, so please use as appropriate. 

  • We are now vaccinating people aged 30 and over, people in care homes, frontline staff and people who are clinically vulnerable. You can find links to the list of clinically extremely vulnerable people on the NEL HCP website.  
  • If you are aged 50 or over or are clinically extremely vulnerable and haven’t received an invitation for a first vaccine then I can take your name now for a vaccination to be arranged for you. 
  • If you are 16-31 and clinically vulnerable,or are a carer then I can take your name now for a vaccination to be arranged for you. 
  • If you are pregnant it is advisable you have the Pfizer vaccine. We can arrange for a consultation and for you to get the Pfzier vaccine. 
  • If you have specific concerns about taking the vaccine and would like to talk to a health professional I can arrange for you to speak with a GP. 
  • The vaccine surgeries run when we are provided with stock. We get very little notice on when vaccine deliveries come in so we can’t book anyone else in directly, but rest assured you will be contacted.
