New Patient Online Registrations
- The New Patient Online Registrations service
A standard, simplified, online process for practices to register new patients, being offered to all practices across North East London.
The process introduces a new online patient registration form, which has been adapted from the GMS1 form.
The new process makes it easier for patients to register with a practice within their catchment area by using a standardized approach whilst aiming to reduce practice administrative work.
This offers a technological solution to improve patient access and experience of general practice.

- Requirements and commitment from practices for the service:
- Operational and contractual guidance
A patient living within the catchment area of the practice will be able to complete their registration online without the need to:
- Visit the practice
- Show ID or proof of address
There is no regulatory requirement to prove identity, address, immigration status or the provision of an NHS number in order to register.
Please do not request patients to show ID or proof of address as we are not obliged to make this request contractually.
- Practice commitment
Where a patient has no online access, practice agree to provide alternative support to individuals to register e.g. using the practice‘s laptop in their premises or continue to provide GMS1 or practice paper registration form.
- Marketing and promotion
A patient can access the online registration form, by using the online registration web link communicated by the practice. It is recommended that the link is advertised on the main practice website along with relevant instructions.

Our practice is offering online registration, this is open to all residents {borough name}.
To register visit, register-gp-london.nhs.uk enter your postcode and choose from the selection. You will be asked to fill a form and submit your personal information so we can register you. Your registration will be processed within 2 working days.
If you want to come in person to register, we will be happy to help you [adapt alternative option]. Please check that your postcode is within our catchment area.
You do not have to show any ID or proof of address to register.
Practices should ask patients to use this link register-gp-london.nhs.uk only to register.
Please do not signpost patients to any other link other than this.
