The London Endoscopy Clinical Working Group has developed a clinical pathway for management of patients referred for suspected Lower GI cancer.
• The pathway is designed to provide appropriate support to primary care colleagues who are considering a referral on a Lower GI 2ww pathway, as well as secondary care colleagues who receive the referral.
• The intention behind this pathway is to ensure that patients who are most at risk of a Lower GI cancer are appropriately prioritised, and are managed in a safe, timely and consistent manner.
• The pathway has been approved by endoscopy clinical leadership from each of the 5 systems in London.
• The pathway was approved by the pan-London Colorectal Cancer Group on 6 October.
• The pathways were approved by the RDC group on 8 October.
• The pathways were distributed to pan-London UGI cancer leads and STP cancer lead GPs, with comments received and incorporated.
