The NEL Diabetes Transformation Programme Preconception Work stream lead by Dr Bobby Huda, is launching a new public campaign targeting women with diabetes who are trying/or may get pregnant. The purpose of this campaign is to raise awareness of the importance of planning a pregnancy for women with diabetes to limit any potential complications. The campaign aims to provide a short educational advertisement for women within this cohort to understand the three things they can do if they are living with diabetes and are planning or may get pregnant; take 5mg folic acid, keep their blood sugar to target levels and speak to your GP surgery.
The advertisements below will be shown on bus-shelters and supermarket advertising spaces within the borough of Tower Hamlets over October/November 2022.
This public campaign is part of a larger campaign, which includes the development of leaflets and GP screens, which will be available and distributed across North East London. We are also developing a number of tools for healthcare professionals, which is due to launch towards the end of the year.
We recognise that this campaign may cause increased queries from patients and potential increased demand on GP services in Tower Hamlets over the campaign period. In sending out this communication, we wanted to ensure Tower Hamlet’s GP practices’ awareness in order to manage this appropriately.
