Community Bilingual Health Advocacy Service

The Community Bilingual Health Advocacy Service provides language support to GP practices in City and Hackney providing:

  • On-demand telephone interpreting service (you should use this for appointments that are less than 40 minutes in duration);
  • Face-to-face appointments;
  • Video/remote and pre-booked interpreting are available in certain circumstances

Click here for key information.

There is no cost to the GP practice for any of these services.

 You can request any language and we will try to get this for you including British Sign Language (BSL). We have bilingual health advocates in-house in the following languages: Albanian, Bengali, Cantonese, French, Italian, Mandarin, Portuguese, Turkish and Vietnamese.  We aim to offer a bilingual health advocate when face-to-face, video or pre-booked telephone is requested.  If we have no availability or you request a language we do not have in-house we will purchase an interpreter from an external agency.

The advocacy service operates between the hours of Monday – Friday, 09:30-17:30
