Changes to immunisation services

Two letters have been cascaded to immunisation services, which set out changes to two vaccination programmes.

From 1st September 2021 the neonatal Bacillus Calmette- Guérin (BCG) programme is moving to vaccination at 28 days. This will support the Severe Combined Immunodeficiency (SCID) screening evaluation being introduced on 6th September by PHE. The bipartite letter for this has now been published here and contains further details including links to an amended PGD, training materials for HCPs, information for parents, and the Green Book chapter which will be updated in August.

The second letter explains some changes to the Human papillomavirus (HPV)  vaccines. The vaccine supplied for the HPV immunisation programme will change from Gardasil® to Gardasil® 9 at some point between late 2021 and early 2022. It is also hosted online here with further supporting information.
