Changes to cardiology referrals to Homerton


The cardiology team of Homerton University hospital is under unprecedented pressure due to staff sickness.

 

The plan for GP open access cardiology diagnostic services effective from 19 March 2020 is as below:

GP open access ECGs

 

Mitigation

The GPs will only refer patients who require urgent ECGs.

GP open access 24hr BP monitor

 

Mitigation

The service is no longer able to guarantee that the test will be completed within 6 weeks.

 

The service will change from walk in to appointment based system.  Please email your request form to huh-tr.ecg-homerton@nhs.net

 

If the requested test is urgent please provide clinical rationale in the form and mark the email subject as urgent.

Mitigation

The service is no longer able to guarantee that the test will be completed within 6 weeks.

The plan is based on clinical needs, has been discussed by Dr AS Kurbaan, Dr Han Bin Xiao, Dr Smita Dutta-Roy, Dr Waleed Arshad and Priya Joseph. The plan may change depending upon national guidance and local resources. The situation will be kept under regular review and any change will be emailed to all stakeholders.
