NHS England wrote again last week to confirm that the situation with the supply of blood testing tubes has improved again, with more stocks coming from the US and production in the UK increasing. Testing in hospitals can now resume as normal too.
Testing in primary and community care has resumed. You can start to order tests as normal, but we ask that you work through any backlog over a period of a few weeks (8 at most), prioritising as required, to spread the demand for tubes.
NHS England also issued some best practice guidance for primary care on optimising blood testing that you can apply to day-to day.
