You will shortly be receiving three revised Pan London 2ww forms for Breast, Lung and Colorectal for your use with immediate effect. Please can you disregard the old Pan London forms and replace them with the new ones. These forms will be provided by CEG and will have the appropriate READ codes included. Please note for Colorectal, practices are being asked to complete a FIT test and only referral when FIT test is positive (FIT>10). We are working with BHRUT to ensure if there are any positive FIT test or abnormal results, that practices will be alerted. Further details will follow.
Practices can order their FIT tests in the same way as they always have had i.e. via BHRUT pathology supplies and BHRUT will carry out the FIT tests in their Biochemistry laboratory. Your results should be available within 5 working days. If however you have sent in a FIT test and have not received a result within 7 days, please complete the 2WW referral anyway and flag this on there. A safety netting procedure is being implemented at BHRUT so any practice who has not made a 2WW referral following a positive FIT test within 7 days will be contacted directly by the Cancer Referrals Office.
Please note the following regarding FIT tests:
The test can only be performed if samples are received in the QFIT sample tube, which should be ordered from Pathology supplies in the same way that you would order sample pots or blood test tubes. Please contact David Hill, Pathology Supplies, 01708 435 000 x 6741 to obtain supplies. Please write them on the Pathology Stores Order form under the name of ‘QFIT sample tubes’.
This is what they will look like, please ensure that they are adequately labelled with the patient’s full name, Date of birth and NHS number.
