Status update and details of Pathway/ Provision/ Protocol Change

Echo, 24 hr BP and holter monitor

The Echocardiography service at Barts Health is now open, although waiting lists are slightly longer than normal - approx. 6 weeks and capacity remains slightly reduced due to infection prevention and control requirements.

Appointments still dependent on being non-symptomatic for covid. All patients will be asked screening questions before attending as per covid guidelines. To help us manage this we would be grateful if you could prioritise patients carefully, and be aware that routine requests may take longer to be completed.

Remote monitoring for holter and BP still in place to reduce footfall - services available just with longer turnaround times than normal.

We appreciate your forbearance during this difficult time and hope that we can provide services in sufficient quantity to support your clinical activities.

Cardiac CT

The cardiovascular CT service at Barts Heart centre is now open to all requests but capacity for patients is slightly reduced due to infection prevention and control requirements.

To help us manage this we would be grateful if you could prioritise patients carefully, and be aware that routine requests may take longer to be completed.

We appreciate your forbearance during this difficult time and hope that we can provide services in sufficient quantity to support your clinical activities.

Cardiac MRI

The Cardiac Imaging service is now open to all requests (routine and urgent) but there will continue to be significant limitations on capacity for the foreseeable future however we are now asking for all referrals that are still required to be re-referred.

To help us manage this we would be grateful if you could prioritise patients carefully, and be aware that routine requests may take longer to be completed.

Please indicate on the referral if you are happy for your referral to be transferred to an alternative modality.  To reduce patient waiting times (e.g. CMR to rubidium PET).

Multiple modality requests will likely be refused at this time and an appropriate single test offered.

We will require all referrals to be authorised by a named consultant and for this to be clearly visible on the form.

Please feel free to speak to the cardiac imaging consultants for guidance when required.

We appreciate your forbearance during this difficult time and hope that we can provide services in sufficient quantity to support your clinical activities.
