Dear primary care teams,
During the week of the junior doctor’s strike on the 13th of March, the entire renal consultant workforce is being redeployed. This means there will be a delay in reply to referrals made to the virtual CKD service during the week of the 6th of March. We will work to ensure delays are minimal – please refer in cases as normal.
We have attached details about how to refer as a refresher to this e-mail. Please note the important information below about our service as from time to time some patients are expecting direct contact from the kidney team - this does not happen at any part of the virtual CKD service which provides advice through a non-patient facing review of the clinical records.
Thank you for your patience and understanding
Dr Gavin Dreyer
Clinical Lead virtual CKD service
- THE VIRTUAL CKD SERVICE DOES NOT REQUIRE PATIENTS TO MAKE AN APPOINTENT OR COME TO HOSPITAL - THERE IS NO DIRECT CONTACT WITH PATIENTS BY PHONE OR VIDEO OR IN PERSON.
- PLEASE DO NOT GIVE VIRUTAL CKD APPOINTMENT DETAILS TO YOUR PATIENT – PLEASE ENSURE THEY UNDERSTAND THIS IS A REVIEW OF THEIR MEDICAL RECORDS ONLY
- THIS SERVICE IS ONLY FOR PATIENTS NOT KNOWN TO ANY OTHER PART OF THE RENAL SERVICE – IF YOUR PATIENT IS ALREADY UNDER THE ACTIVE CARE OF A KIDNEY CONSULTANT, PLEASE CONTACT THE RELEVANT KIDNEY TEAM/CONSULTANT DIRECTLY
